The incident occurred in the town of Washington at approximately 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 6, state police said.
An initial investigation found a white 2006 BMW 325 was parked southbound on Route 82 near South Road in the center of her lane of travel with her vehicle flashers on, police said.
The operator, identified as Hope A. McLucas, of Pleasant Valley, exited her vehicle possibly to attend to raccoons on or near the roadway and was standing in the northbound lane when she was struck and killed by a northbound 2011 Toyota Tundra, according to police.
McLucas was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel.
This investigation remains ongoing, but there are no criminal charges at this time, police said.
Millbrook Fire Department, Millbrook Ambulance Corp, and Mobile Life Paramedics were also on scene.
